OCEANS SUBCOMMITTEE TO EXPLORE WHALE TAKE REDUCTION PLAN AND MAINE’S LOBSTER FISHERY AT FIELD HEARING | |
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Commerce Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard will hold a field hearing on the impacts of the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan (ALWTRP) on Maine’s lobster fishery on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., in Ellsworth, Maine. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) will preside.
This hearing will focus on the new regulations implementing the ALWTRP that were issued by the National Marine Fisheries Service in October 2007 and the impact of these regulations on Maine's fisheries and communities.
