Technology Showcase

DOE conducts technology showcases to foster increased energy efficiency across all sectors of the economy. The Texas Technology Showcase for the chemical and refining industries was held in Houston, March 17-19, 2003. The event was hosted by DOE and the Texas IOF to support implementation of the President's Climate VISION, and to help companies identify cost-effective innovations to meet challenges they face in the region.

Technologies in use were featured at seven host companies: Calpine, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, The Dow Chemical Company, Exxon Mobil, Merisol USA, Rohm and Haas Texas, and Valero Energy Corporation. Valuable information from the Showcase (plant overviews, technology case studies, and presentations) is available at the Texas Technology Showcase Web site. Many of the featured technologies reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides, which are of particular concern in the Houston-Galveston area as precursors to ozone formation.
