Dr. Nicole Prudent is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine and a Pediatrician at the Boston Medical Center. She is also affiliated with the Boston Public Health Commission, where she directs the project HEALTHY CHOICE, an adolescent pregnancy prevention program. She is a Co-Founder and Director of The Haitian Health Institute at The Boston Medical Center.
Dr. Prudent has long been a health advocate for vulnerable populations in the Boston area. She has developed and implemented numerous programs aimed at improving access to health care for disenfranchised groups. For example she developed a series of culturally and linguistically sensitive audio-visual educational material on a number of health concerns for the Haitian population. She has also made significant contributions in the area of prevention, where she has targeted various age groups and a number of issues, including smoking, HIV, youth leadership, after-school programs, and services for mentally retarded youths. Dr. Prudent has been honored and recognized for her long-standing commitment and service to the Haitian community by the Mayor of Boston, The Massachusetts Department of Public Health, The AIDS Action Committee of Boston, The Association of Haitian Parents, and The Healthy Start Initiatives.
