FCC Chairman Martin Responds to Letter from Chairman Dingell on Commission Procedures
Washington, D.C. – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Kevin Martin responded yesterday to a letter he received last week from Rep. John D. Dingell (D-MI), Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
In his letter, Dingell raised concerns about a breakdown in proper procedure at the FCC and launched an inquiry by the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations to ensure that the agency’s processes are fair, open, and transparent and serve the public interest. Dingell requested a firm commitment from Chairman Martin to publish proposed rules in advance of Commission meetings, provide sufficient time to review proposed orders and rules, and provide Commissioners with all of the relevant information on which proposed orders and rules are based.
