New Freshwater Fishing Regulations for 2008-2010 Seasons
Changes are effective October 1. Several of the recently adopted changes apply to all waters in New York, while others apply to specific waters.

The Marcellus Shale formation contains potentially sizeable natural gas resources and possible exploration of these resources has raised some concerns.
Terrestrial Invasive Species Eradication Grants
$1,000,000 is currently available for projects to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of terrestrial invasive species. Applications will be accepted until October 31.
New York Environmental Leaders Applications Accepted
NYEL provides recognition and incentives for those organizations that use pollution prevention practices, beyond compliance performance, or sustainable business practices. Applications will be accepted through October 31.
Don't Move Firewood
An emergency rule is in place to reduce the risks from invasive insects and diseases of trees by preventing untreated firewood from entering New York State and restricting the movement, sale and possession, within the State, of untreated firewood that originates in New York State.
2008 Wildfire Academy
The 2008 New York Wildfire and Incident Management Academy is scheduled to be held from October 24 through November 2.
Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Plan
A significantly amended version of the proposed New York State Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Plan is being made available for public review through November 26. Public hearings will be held through 11/20.
Joint Application Form Now Available
A revised Joint Application Form for permits and determinations for activities affecting streams, waterways, waterbodies, wetlands, coastal areas and sources of water supply is now available. Both the format of the form and the procedures for filing applications have been changed.
