October 2007 began on the unseasonably warm side with afternoon highs reaching the low to mid 80s for much of the first week, and daily mean temperatures some 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.
A strong storm system plowed through the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas during the day and evening of the 17th, bringing severe weather and tornadoes to the area. The average temperature for the month ranked in the top 10 warmest for the eastern Missouri Ozarks.Most of the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas received below normal precipitation for the month of October, with the majority of precipitation occurring over northwest Missouri and southeast Missouri.
