...Severe Weather and Tornadoes Hit Southeast Kansas & Missouri Ozarks...

Severe thunderstorms pushed across southeast Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks Wednesday afternoon into the early morning hours Thursday in advance of a powerful storm system. A supercell thunderstorm produced a tornado that tracked across Lawrence and Greene Counties in southwest Missouri. The storms produced numerous reports of wind damage along with some large hail.

...EF-2 Tornado in Lawrence County...

A National Weather Service storm survey team found that an EF-2 rated Tornado touched down in Lawrence County Wednesday evening October 17, 2007 at approximately 550 PM. An EF-2 rated tornado produces estimated winds of 111 to 135 MPH. The tornado track began just north of Verona in southeast Lawrence County and moved north on a broken path to near Chesapeake in east central Lawrence County . The tornado path ranged from 50 to 150 yards wide and produced an intermittent damage path of approximately eleven miles. The tornado damaged or destroyed nine homes, a lumber mill and several barns. No injuries were reported.

...EF-1 Tornado in Greene County...

A National Weather Service storm survey team found that an EF-1 rated tornado touched down in northwestern Greene County Wednesday evening October 17, 2007 at approximately 635 pm. An EF-1 rated tornado produces estimated winds of 86 to 110 mph. The tornado track began 1 mile west of Cave Springs and moved northeast before lifting 2 miles northeast of Cave Springs. The tornado path was approximately 100 yards in width and remained on the ground for about 3 miles. The tornado damaged or destroyed 2 homes and a barn. No injuries were reported.

...EF-0 Tornado in Laclede County...

A National Weather Service storm survey team found that an EF-0 rated tornado touched down in southern Laclede County near Morgan Wednesday evening October 17, 2007 at approximately 1135 pm. An EF-0 rated tornado produces estimated winds of 65 to 85 mph. The tornado briefly touched down near Morgan or approximately seven miles south of . The tornado downed trees and telephone poles, moved a mobile home off of its foundation, and damaged the roof of a home. No injuries were reported.
