...August 2007 Monthly Climate Summary...
August began hot and dry for southeast Kansas and western Missouri. Actually, with the exception of a heavy rainfall event which took place on the 19th and 20th, the month would have been near record dry conditions. Overall, august finished with warmer than normal temperatures and with wetter than normal conditions. The exception was West Plains which finished with its 2nd driest August on record.

As you can see from the image below, most of the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas experienced around normal precipitation for the month of August 2007. Southern and southeastern Missouri was the exception. That area received significantly less rainfall than much of the rest of the state.
