Motorcycle Endorsement
An Oregon licensed driver who is temporarily stationed out-of-state may add an Oregon motorcycle endorsement to their Oregon Driver License while out of state.

To order a Motorcycle Endorsement Valid-With-Previous-Photo (VWPP) packet, fill out and submit the driver question form entirely.  In Step 4 of the form, request a Motorcycle VWPP packet to be sent to the address provided.

To be eligible you must have a valid Oregon Class C Non-Commercial, or higher driver license and meet the following requirements:
  • Take and pass a motorcycle endorsement knowledge test;
  • Take and pass a motorcycle endorsement drive (skills) test;
  • Pass a vision screening test if a passing score dated within the last two years is not on Oregon’s DMV system;
  • Complete the “Motorcycle Endorsement Valid-with-previous-photo packet”; and
  • Mail completed application, proof of test scores, and payment (check or money order made out to "Oregon DMV") for all applicable fees to Oregon DMV.
Oregon DMV will accept motorcycle knowledge, vision and drive test results from the licensing authority in any U.S. state.  If the licensing authority in the state where you reside will not administer the required tests, Oregon DMV can not issue you a motorcycle endorsement.

The test results must be provided in the form of a letter from the licensing authority which administered the required tests and state what tests were administered and the score(s).

NOTE:  If you are under 21 years of age, Oregon requires a “Basic Rider Training” completion card from TEAM OREGON Motorcycle Safety Program prior to issuance of a motorcycle endorsement. Therefore, if you are under the age of 21, you must visit an Oregon DMV office with all required material before issuance can be granted.

Name Change

NOTE: Changing your name on your Oregon driver license, permit, or ID card does not automatically change your name on your Oregon vehicle record, title or registration. You must apply for a name change for your Oregon title within 30 days of the name change.
