Skywarn Recognition Day

Amateur radio operators and members of the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay participated in the 2006 Skywarn Recognition Day, this year on December 1 and 2.

During the event, WX9GRB, the NWS Green Bay amateur radio station, made contacts with other amateur radio operators across Wisconsin, the Midwest, and North America.  Click here for more information about the event.

Amateur radio operators report real-time severe storm and snow conditions to the NWS.  Their volunteer efforts greatly enhance the warning and forecast programs, leading to the protection of lives and property.  Skywarn Recognition Day allows the NWS to recognize and thank them for their work.
