Entrepreneurs Promote Goods at Baku Food Industry Exhibition

From May 23–25, program staff and four clients from the USAID-funded Azerbaijan Business Assistance and Development Program (ABAD) attended the Food Industry Exhibition in Baku to share program information, promote client products and services, and generate business contacts.

Participating ABAD clients were: Shabran-D, LLC, a bio-humus organic fertilizer producer; Ginyat Ogullari, honey and royal jelly producer; Safari, a cardboard packaging firm; and, beekeeper Movladdin Gurbanaliyev. Each client contributed 250AZN (US $287) toward the cost of the ABAD exhibition booth.

ABAD staff and clients worked to promote linkages with potential buyers and companies interested in partnership. In addition to private sector agents, governmental representatives, including the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan expressed interest and had an official conversation with representatives of the ABAD booth during his tour through the exhibition. He stressed the significant role of USAID-funded ABAD program in fostering rural economic development in Azerbaijan and was pleased to learn of the achievements of the ABAD clients participating at the exhibition.

The client participants were satisfied with the results of exhibition in terms of gaining access to potential buyers and expanding their businesses. During the event, the Shabran-D, LLC representative made linkages with over 60 agricultural smallholders interested in bio-humus and made plans for future cooperation. Beekeeper Movladdin Gurbanaliyev will work with 17 new companies to market his honey as a result of linkages he made during the event. Ginyat Ogullari made contacts with both local and foreign companies, including five large-scale equipment manufacturers who produce tools utilized in beekeeping.
