Aloha, and welcome to HRD!
Thank you for visiting our
site. Our agency has been rooted in Hawaii’s quest for fair and efficient public service since
our founding in 1939.
Our goal is to provide the BEST
possible human resources to the State. While achieving this goal may seem
simple, we have many different customers including state agency managers
throughout a fast-paced Hawaii,
and each of you – valued members of our public citizenry.
We are advancing our goal
through hard work, staff development, and the use of new technologies. I also want to highlight that we are using
the good, old-fashioned method of reaching out to our customers to keep
improving our customer services. The
vision I have laid out for the Department, is to continue to provide the best
HR support possible to the maximum benefit of the State.
As we focus on maximizing
our valued human resources, our ultimate focus is in providing Hawaii’s citizens with a qualified, motivated and capable
work force in the true spirit of merit principles.
We work to ensure that civil
service positions statewide are properly classified and fairly
compensated. We recruit for job openings
on merit and utilize appropriate testing or screening criteria. We design or provide state employees and
managers a rich complement of training and development courses to serve you
better. To retain a high level of public
confidence, employees must successfully pass annual evaluations. Annually we honor the state’s many
outstanding employees, managers and teams for exemplary service. We ensure that State workplaces and employees
are safe. In essence we value the human
spirit and knowledge, which we then place into maximum action for Hawaii.
In the exciting months ahead
we will be adding more information to this site, such as new HR developments,
information, and timely information about careers in demand. So here’s an invitation to come visit
frequently.
Aloha,
Marie C. Laderta
