San Antonio, TX -- The Canyon Lake Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Comal County will close at 6 p.m., on Friday, August 23.

"The decision to close the Canyon Lake DRC signals the closing of the final of 20 DRC locations that were opened in central and south Texas," said Scott Wells, Federal Coordinating Officer. "Even though the centers will all be closed down at 6 p.m., August 23, help is still available by phone."

Anyone in need of rental or mortgage assistance, crisis counseling or any unmet needs or those desiring to check on the status of their application can call 800-621-FEMA (3362) to register through September 2, 2002. The TTY number is 800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired.

"Until the Canyon Lake DRC closes, individuals can still visit the center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 1114 Amelia Street," said Duke Mazurek, State Coordinating Officer.
