Yellowstone to Waive Entrance Fee on National Public Lands Day
All National Park Service sites, including Yellowstone National Park, will offer free visitor admission on Saturday, September 27, in honor of National Public Lands Day.  All Entrance fees, including commercial tour entrance fees and transportation entrance fees, will be waived on this day.  A seven-day pass to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks is normally $25 for a private, non-commercial vehicle.

Yellowstone 2008 Summer Visitation Up
After a record June, Yellowstone National Park visitation remained strong in July and August, and remains on a near record pace for all of 2008. The park recorded 735,572 recreational visits in August. Overall, visitation for the three summer months was up over 30-thousand visitors compared to the same period last year.

Grand Loop Road Between Fishing Bridge and Mud Volcano (Canyon) Reopens
The Grand Loop Road between Fishing Bridge and Mud Volcano reopened to traffic at noon Friday.  Visitors will be required to travel through the area without stopping.  There could be temporary traffic delays of up to ten minutes as helicopters continue to fly over the area and drop water on the fire.

Firefighters Make Progress on LeHardy Fire Thursday
Lighter winds and additional firefighters resulted in a day of significant progress on the LeHardy Fire in Yellowstone National Park. Mapping conducted after a late Thursday afternoon reconnaissance flight has resulted in a revised, lower fire size estimate of 505 acres. Second Aggressive Black Bear Euthanized In Yellowstone

Beartooth Pass To Reopen Saturday Morning

International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) is an annual event to celebrate and support migratory bird conservation. Like clockwork, each spring many migratory birds return to or fly over environments like Yellowstone National Park en route to their breeding areas. Safety and Sobriety Checkpoints to be Conducted
In accordance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association's "National Impaired Driving Enforcement Crackdown," Yellowstone National Park rangers will be conducting safety and sobriety checkpoints on Highway 191 inside the park on May 8.  Yellowstone law enforcement staff will be looking primarily for drivers who are impaired and for other traffic and safety violations.

Four Yellowstone Projects Awarded Federal Matching Funds
The Yellowstone Park Foundation has raised more that $700,000 in private funding slated for four 2008 National Park Service (NPS) Centennial Challenge projects.  As a result of the Yellowstone Park Foundation’s fundraising efforts, Yellowstone National Park has been awarded matching federal funds to be used toward these projects.

NPS Helps Fund Grazing Restriction & Bison Access Agreement
(Bozeman, MT)  – The National Park Service has agreed to provide federal funds in support of a grazing rights and bison access agreement which will allow the Interagency Bison Management Plan (IBMP) to move forward.  The deal was announced in Bozeman this afternoon by Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Suzanne Lewis, Church Universal and Triumphant, Inc., President Kate Gordon, and Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer.
