- The road from Uncle Tom's to Artist Point will be CLOSED TONIGHT, Friday, September 12, from 8 PM to 8 AM Saturday. Visitors will still be able to access Uncle Tom's area during this time. Artist Point Parking Lot will be closed the nights of September 12-24th and for paving and will open each morning at 10:00 a.m. For current road information call 307-344-2117. In the park

Artist Point drive re-opened May 23 after the completion of a major restoration project. The overlook has been closed to visitors since July 2007 to improve accessibility, restore the parking area, trails, walkways and viewing platforms, and to enhance the historic and natural beauty of the area.

Trails
Hikers are also urged to check with visitor centers for information on bear activity and possible trail closures. Some backcountry trails remain temporarily closed due to the LeHardy fire. Updated trail information is available at park visitor centers and backcountry offices or by calling Yellowstone’s Central Backcountry Office at 307-344-2160 during normal business hours.
Camping
All frontcountry campgrounds are open. Reservations for Bridge Bay, Canyon, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Madison Campgrounds and can be made by calling 1-866-GEYSERLAND (1-866-439-7375).
Camping at Indian Creek, Lewis Lake, Mammoth, Norris, Pebble Creek, Slough Creek and Tower Fall is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Backcountry Camping
Hikers are urged to check with visitor centers for information on bear activity and possible trail closures.
For updated backcountry camping and trail information, the park’s Central Back-country Office is staffed seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and can be reached by calling (307) 344-2160. more...

Fishing Season
The fishing season begins Saturday, May 24. Anglers must possess a valid Yellowstone fishing permit, available at ranger stations, visitor centers and general stores throughout the park. more...
