Director’s Statement
Welcome to the I H S Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention web site. We are currently revising and updating our site so please bear with us.

American Indian and Alaska Native communities suffer a disproportionately high rate of type 2 diabetes when compared with other populations in the U. S. and throughout the world. Although we face significant challenges in dealing with the epidemic of diabetes, there are many new opportunities and strategies that will help all of us strengthen our clinical, public health and community approaches to the problem of diabetes.
