GOV. RITTER APPOINTS DISTRICT COURT JUDGE IN 17th JUDICIAL DISTRICT

Gov. Bill Ritter today appointed Frederick Michael Goodbee of Westminster as District Court Judge to the 17th Judicial District, which serves Adams and Broomfield Counties.

Goodbee is currently the 17th Judicial District Assistant District Attorney, a position he has held since 2005. Prior to this, he supervised the criminal justice section of the Colorado Attorney General's Office (2003 to 2005). From 1997 to 2003, Goodbee served two terms as the 5th Judicial Distrcit Attorney and from 1991 to 1996 served as the 5th Judicial District's Deputy and Chief Deputy District Attorney. He practiced privately from 1989 to 1991, and again from 1996 to 1997. Goodbee received his B.A from Colorado State University in 1985 and his J.D. from Tulane University in 1989.

Goodbee will fill a vacancy occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable Harlan Bockman on August 1, 2008. The initial term of office is a provisional term of two years and then until the second Tuesday in January following the next general election.
