About Us
OWIIPP is working to identify and prevent targeted occupational illnesses and injuries in Oregonians.
Mission Statement
The Oregon Worker Illness and Injury Prevention Program (OWIIPP) provides a public health focus on occupational health.  Our tracking and data-driven prevention efforts rely on partnerships with regulators, insurers, industry, labor and health systems to identify patterns of illness and injury among workers; and to develop mutually agreed upon ways to address priority conditions, populations, occupations and/or industries.

OWIIPP is funded by NIOSH to accomplish the following goals:
  • Develop systems to comprehensively monitor targeted occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Identify clusters of injuries and illnesses, in a workplace or across an industry, that are preventable.
  • Identify new sources of occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Focus prevention and intervention efforts on occupations and industries that put workers at highest risk.
  • Provide workers, employers, the public and the occupational safety and health community with information to prevent occupational illnesses and injuries.
