School Fluoride

King Fluoride is a voluntary school-based program targeting children in grades K-6 living in non-optimally fluoridated communities with greater than 30% of kids on free and reduced lunches. The goal of King Fluoride is to prevent tooth decay by providing resources to these communities. The King Fluoride program started in 1974. The program is sponsored by Oregon Public Health and is provided at no cost to participating schools and students.

There are two components to the King Fluoride program:

Fluoride Rinse Program — voluntary weekly fluoride mouth rinse

Fluoride Tablet Program — voluntary daily fluoride supplement
