Erosion in the Democratic Republic of the Congo



The homes of many poverty-stricken families are at risk as numerous huge gallies are eating their way up the hillside. Special Self-Help funds purchased grass, bamboo, sacks of sand, shovels, and machetes to help the men fight the erosion.  (Photos taken in March 2003 by Embassy Kinshasa Self-Help Coordinator Rebecca Ward)
