The health and well-being of humans, plants, and animals,
are affected by dusts, malodorous compounds, and other substances released to
the atmosphere by agricultural activities. On the other hand, excess levels of
tropospheric ozone damage crops. National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS)
are the basis for State air regulations and implementation plans. Some of the
substances emitted by agriculture are included in the NAAQS, and agriculture, by
mandate or voluntarily, needs to help communities meet the standards.
