Interested in Reporting Snowfall to
the
NWS in Riverton Through the Internet?
Check Out This New Online Service
eSpotter is an experimental project designed
to facilitate the submission of spotter reports online.
The system is
being developed to enhance and increase timely and
accurate online spotter reporting and communications between spotters and
the Weather Forecast Office in Riverton.
Spotters in the field can submit their reports using the eSpotter website.
Seconds after the report is submitted, the staff at the Weather Forecast
Office in Riverton receives an audio and visual alarm stating that an
online spotter report has been submitted. The information in these
reports can be used by NWS staff for inclusion in forecasts, statements,
and
summaries.
Currently,
the NWS in Riverton is looking for people interested in reporting snowfall
reports using eSpotter. Of particular interest are those western and
central Wyoming residents that live in rural or sparsely populated areas.
However, anyone who is interested can email
Chris
Jones to receive instructions for establishing an account.
Residents in the following counties are eligible to
use the Riverton eSpotter system: Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs,
Johnson, Lincoln, Natrona, Park, Sweetwater, Sublette, Teton, and Washakie.
So, if you are a dedicated snow watcher please email
