Wyoming Spring 2008 Snowmelt Flood Potential Outlook--February Update
A great majority of watersheds across Wyoming had near normal to above normal "water" in the mountain snowpack. Early February snow water equivalents (SWEs) in the mountains were the highest over the Upper Yellowstone, Snake, Laramie, Upper Wind, and Powder River Watersheds.
There is expected a moderate to high potential for headwater snowmelt flooding across the Laramie Drainage, portions of the Upper North Platte Basin, and upper portions of the Snake River Watershed . Moderate potential for headwater flooding during the spring runoff is expected across the upper portions of the Wind River, Powder, Upper Bear, and Little Snake Watersheds. All other headwater locations across Wyoming can expect a low potential for flooding due to springtime snowmelt.
