Partner Profile John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is part of the National Park System. The Monument preserves and interprets fossils from the last 45 million years. The National Park Service is committed to sustainable operations, and the staff at John Day Fossil Beds NM wanted to match its actions with that agency commitment. As part of this effort the Monument is purchasing green power to meet 100 percent of its electricity use. "I have a very diverse staff working at the national monument. They rarely agree on anything. Entering into the agreement to purchase green power is the one thing that achieved unanimous consensus, and great enthusiasm", said Park Superintendent James Hammett.
