Partner Profile The Rochester City School District is the third largest school district in the State of New York, with a student population of 34,000 and facilities covering nearly 7 million square feet. The District purchases 9,900,000 kWh of wind power annually as part of a negotiated tariff with the local utility. In addition to purchasing green power, the District is committed to energy conservation and, in 2005, was recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader. "Our energy conservation program and our commitment to renewable energy sources make sense not only environmentally but financially," said Dr. Manuel J. Rivera, Superintendent of Schools for the Rochester City School District. "We are proud to be recognized as an environmentally conscious school district, and proud of the enthusiastic response of our students and staff in making that possible." |
