At Goetz Printing we understand the meaning of community. We are fifty-eight people, with families of our own, serving a variety of complex and diverse organizations in the surrounding communities of Washington, DC. Established in 1927, Goetz has proven its value as a dependable and reputable business partner to organizations in need of high-quality print collateral. The facts are that printing requires the use of, predominately, two key natural resources; wood to create the paper we print on and electricity to power our presses and bindery equipment. In addition to our certification with the SFI, PEFC, and FSC chain-of-custody programs, which serve to protect high-conservation/old growth forests, Goetz powers 100% of its entire facility with electricity generated from wind and solar technologies. We purchase RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates), which validate our legitimate ownership of the green energy that is directed onto the national energy grid. The RECs are certified by Green-e in accordance to EPA guidelines, which are sourced from wind turbines and solar panels. By supporting these technologies Goetz is leading the initiative to increase the demand for clean, renewable energy sources in our area. In addition to our wind and solar RECs, Goetz also supports certified reforestation projects in the U.S. and in Central America. Through our financial support we receive carbon credits that offset the CO2 emissions produced from our consumption of natural gas and transportation including business commuting. Our RECs and our support of reforestation projects combine to yield enough carbon-offset credits to make Goetz and our manufacturing process carbon neutral. Our recycling program and use of non-petroleum, vegetable based inks and varnishes further demonstrate out commitment to providing sustainable business solutions that are both environmentally sound and socially responsible. "We are proud to participate in a program that acknowledges the bold initiatives of progressive and forward thinking and acting leaders within the business community. We are further proud to participate in the CarbonFund.org program, which offers cutting-edge, technologically-based, sustainable solutions for our shared environment. After all, we too want our children to have planet Earth left in a condition worthy of inheriting," said Kevin McKenney, VP, Outreach and Communications.
