Partner Profile Duke University is currently purchasing over 8 million kilowatt-hours of green power annually. Since initiating the Duke Green Power Challenge in 2003, students have been the driving force behind the University's wind power purchases. Recently, the Pratt School of Engineering and the Nicholas School of the Environment have taken leadership through their commitment to power their buildings with Green-e certified new wind power. In fact, one of their purchases helped solidify a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating for the Fitzpatrick Center, a 320,000-quare-foot research facility. Duke's green power purchasing was recognized with the Purchaser Award at the 2005 Southeast Green Energy Summit. |
