Partner Profile The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania joined the Green Power Partnership in 2005 and received a Green Power Leadership Award in 2006. Pennsylvania purchases a combination of wind and biomass renewable energy certificates equivalent to 30 percent of the annual electricity use of its state facilities. "Affordable, reliable, and environmentally beneficial energy is the foundation for a cleaner environment, a stronger economy, and greater security at home," Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty said, and added that joining the Green Power Partnership is a reflection of "the Rendell Administration's aggressive efforts and the Legislature's recent actions on measures that are helping to make Pennsylvania a national leader in the development and deployment of energy technology." |
