Partner Profile Reacting to rolling blackouts, soaring energy prices, and the threat of global climate change, in November of 2001 San Francisco voters overwhelmingly approved Propositions B and H, which authorized the City to issue revenue bonds to finance renewable energy projects and energy efficiency measures in city- and county-owned buildings. The Moscone Center project is the first project to result from these propositions. With a capacity of 675 kW, the photovoltaic (PV) installation on the Moscone Center is currently the largest city-owned solar project in the country. The PV modules on the Moscone Center roof produce a minimum of 825,000 kWh annually. The Moscone Center project is a step towards the city obtaining all municipal energy from pollution-free sources, while creating jobs and driving economic growth. |
