Partner Profile Butte College was founded in 1967 and is situated on a 928 acre wildlife refuge nestled within the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California. The College committed to reaching carbon neutrality by 2015 and reducing its energy consumption and purchasing green power are two vital aspects of its strategy. Butte College's commitment to green power includes a three phase solar array installation. Phase I, a 1.06 MW DC array is already installed. Proposals for phase II and III are in review. The college plans to reach carbon neutrality through the three solar installation phases as well as reduction of energy use and by supplementing our transportation system with hybrid-diesel buses. |
