Exploring Project

[Students Grades 9-12]
[Available: OH]

Exploring is a worksite-based project and is a part of Learning for Life's career education program. Its purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. The project's activities help youth pursue their special interests, growth and development.

Exploring is based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character education and leadership experience.

NASA Glenn Research Center collaborates with the Boy Scouts of America to provide the Glenn Explorer location. Activity groups led by Glenn volunteers, who serve as Exploring Advisors, meet one weekday evening a week from October through April to work on group projects. The activities increase awareness in the basics of aeronautics, computer technology and balloon satellites. Exploring exposes students to careers in each field.
