The Editorial Branch's manuscript clearance editors provide final editorial review/clearance for all prepublication manuscripts intended for external audiences.
The Editorial Branch accepts final-edited manuscripts for which agencies have obtained thorough internal review and clearance. Submit these final manuscripts along with Request for Manuscript Review ( Form AD-59) and documentation of all interagency reviews obtained. Final-manuscript-stage review/clearance normally takes 1 to 2 workweeks. This clearance must be obtained before agencies obtain design work.
Post-design, using Form AD-78 (Request for Printing and Binding), agencies submit printer-ready materials through the Editorial Branch a second and final time for clearance to print or post electronically. This review phase normally takes 1 to 2 workdays.
Unless another editorial style is preferred, Government Printing Office (GPO) style is expected. In all cases, a consistent editorial style is required throughout each document
USDA Departmental Regulation 1410-001, Publications Review/Clearance Policy, explains agencies' responsibilities for publication planning and coordination and for obtaining clearance.
