ABA Adopts Policy Supporting "IVAWA"At its Annual Meeting in August 2008, the ABA adopted policy urging federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments to adopt legislation and appropriate funding to strengthen protection and assistance for victims of gender-based violence within the United States and abroad, and urging Congress to enact and fund the International Violence Against Women Act of 2007 or similar legislation. Support the National Domestic Violence Volunteer Attorney Network Act
The U.S. House and Senate are both considering legislation designed to harness the skills, enthusiasm and dedication of pro bono lawyers by creating a network of volunteer attorneys to combat domestic violence.

New ABA Websites in Support of DV
The Commission has been working in collaboration with other ABA entities on two new projects, both of which have launched websites full of resources. These websites are both dynamic works-in-progress and will serve many functions, including acting as a clearinghouse for information for attorneys on trafficking in persons and LGBT domestic violence.
