Spain is Becoming a Major Factor in the European Union Swine Sector
Though Germany is currently the EU's leading hog producer with a herd of about 40 million head over the past 10 years, Spain's swine population expanded to over 38 million head in 2001 and is expected to continue growing. It has the potential to become the leading hog producer in the EU in the next 5 years.
