Welcome
CDC's Steps Program operates a cooperative agreement that provides
funding to communities nationwide to support evidence-based community
interventions. These interventions focus on reducing the burden of
obesity, diabetes, and asthma, as well as addressing three related risk
factors: physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and tobacco use.

Recently Published – April 2008
CDC's
Steps Program and Partnership for Prevention have developed implementation
guidance ("Action Guides") on five effective community-level health
promotion strategies relating to diabetes self-management, physical
activity, and tobacco-use treatment.

2008 Steps Community Heroes
These
seven individuals have made outstanding contributions to improve the health
and well-being of others in their communities. The 2008 Steps Heroes include
a school district food service director, a teacher and one of her students,
a community health representative, a retired nurse, a health educator, and a
public health graduate student.
