The Senior Biomedical Research Service (SBRS) provides opportunities for outstanding individuals actively engaged in either original, peer-reviewed biomedical research or clinical research evaluation. Candidates for the SBRS must have a doctoral-level degree in a scientific field. A credentials committee evaluates each candidate’s qualifications, experience, and scientific credentials.

Citizenship Requirements
Citizens and non-citizens (individuals not born in
the U.S. and not naturalized) are eligible for the SBRS.
Other non-citizens are eligible only for term
appointments. Non-citizens may
be appointed to an SBRS fellowship in accordance with Title
42, Public Health Service Act.
