About TFAH
Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to saving lives by protecting the health of every community and working to make disease prevention a national priority. TFAH provides information on how to strengthen the nation's public health system through science-based research, community partnerships, and education.
Partnership Activities with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
As the most fundamental and essential building block needed to modernize the nation’s public health defenses, TFAH is fighting to establish a nationwide environmental public health tracking network.
Working with members on Capitol Hill, media outlets throughout the nation, and community groups, TFAH is leading efforts to begin and raise attention about the need for an effective health tracking system. More than 100 organizations have endorsed the call for a Nationwide Health Tracking Network [external link]. Twenty-seven members of the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus [PDF] [external link] signed a letter requesting $100 million to support a health tracking network.
In 2002, members of Congress introduced The Nationwide Health Tracking Act of 2002 [external link] and appropriated $17.5 million toward beginning to build such a network. In 2003, an additional $28 million was appropriated to expand and grow the program. [PDF] [external link]
