Exposure Assessment

Evaluation: Program Review

Reviewing program activities, outputs, and outcomes is essential for good program performance. Regular monitoring must include systematically collecting, analyzing, and reporting information that tracks program activities and results (outputs and outcomes).

A particularly useful metric of program accomplishments is how the outputs of Exposure Assessment Program research activities have translated into measurable outcomes in occupational safety and health practice. On an annual basis, the research products of all the NIOSH programs are assembled and reviewed. The most recent products are described in the NIOSH Bibliography of Communication and Research Products 2005, Publication 2006-132. This document presents a bibliography of NIOSH communication and research products for the year 2005. Product types include journal articles, book chapters, numbered publications, abstracts/proceedings, control technology reports, fatality assessment and control evaluation reports, fire fighter fatality investigation and prevention reports, an author index, a keyword index, and the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Index.

The r2p section of this webpage also illustrates the outcomes for improved exposure assessment methods to meet actual workplace needs and the application of those methods by our academic, government, industry, and labor partners.

In addition to internal and external program reviews, program evaluations are being conducted by the National Academies.
