NWS All Hazards Weather Information, Spotting, and Safety Classes
Are you interested in becoming a weather spotter, or advancing your existing spotting knowledge?
Do you want to know more about what to do in hazardous weather?
Or maybe you're just interested in weather and want to know more?
Image of a thunder storm with lightning over a city The National Weather Service office in Grand Junction will be conducting weather spotting classes throughout the year, more frequently during the Spring and early Summer months. There is no cost for these classes and everyone is invited. Classes are normally 2 hours in length, with both a basic and advanced class available. Seating may be limited for some sessions.
If you have already attended the Basic Weather Spotter Training, we encourage you to attend our new Advanced Spotter Training Course. For this class, spotters should be comfortable with the basic concepts of storm structure and storm spotting. The presentation will be more in-depth concerning convective and mesoscale phenomenon, and will be taught with the assumption that the attendee is knowledgeable of the fundamental principles.
