Dear Postal Employee,

I am pleased to present the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program Booklet. Please take this opportunity to become informed about the life insurance coverage available to Postal employees and your opportunities to make changes to that coverage, especially in connection with life events such as marriage or the birth of a child.

FEGLI offers Basic life insurance and three types of Optional life insurance at attractive group rates. Newly eligible employees may obtain coverage without having a physical or furnishing proof of insurability. Most employees are eligible to continue their FEGLI coverage when they retire.

This Booklet incorporates changes and clarifications since the last version was printed. Among the changes are new premiums that went into effect in January 2003 for certain types of coverage.
