Oregon Department of Revenue Grants Relief for Tropical Storms and Hurricanes
Oregon taxpayers who miss their Oregon tax filing or payment deadlines because they are affected by tropical storms or hurricanes will not receive penalties if they file or make payment by the same extension period granted by the Internal Revenue Service.
Affected taxpayers include:
- relief workers;
- individuals and businesses located in the disaster area; and
- those whose tax records, including records needed for tax deposits, are located in the disaster area.
To find out more about the affected areas, check the IRS Web page, www.irs.gov.
We will remove any late-filing or late-payment penalties that would have applied to returns or payments that are now subject to these extensions. However, we will not waive the late-payment penalty on taxes that were due before the extension period. We also will waive interest on a case-by-case basis.
Affected taxpayers should contact us immediately if they receive penalties for late returns or late payments.
