About Go Local Delaware
What is it?
Go Local Delaware is a free, online information database of health-related services, healthcare practitioners, and health-promoting programs available in Delaware. People can use Go Local Delaware from any internet connection to find health services in New Castle, Kent, or Sussex County. Some examples of how one may use Go Local Delaware are:
- Finding an outpatient physical therapy program near to your home or workplace
- Locating a nearby Alcoholics Anonymous meeting
- Researching senior communities or nursing homes for oneself, a parent, or a grandparent
- Finding low-cost medical care for children who have no health insurance
- Locating a walk-in medical clinic, where appointments are not needed in order to receive care
- Connecting with social service options available for teenage parents
- And many, many more!
Where did it come from?
Go Local Delaware was made possible by a collaboration between the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the Delaware Academy of Medicine. Using funds and technical support from the NLM, librarians at the Delaware Academy of Medicine created the database by collecting and cataloging information on health services available throughout Delaware and in nearby areas of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.
Who’s included?
Entries include government agencies such as Delaware Health and Social Services, hospitals, individual healthcare practitioners, support groups, non-profit service organizations, and more. Most health services in the database include a link to their own website, where one may find more details on the particular services offered. We have also listed facilities that do not yet have a website. In this case, one may call the telephone number provided to get further information. By including a health-related service in Go Local Delaware, we are neither endorsing nor recommending that service. It is for the user to decide what services he or she will use, or not.
