EF2 Tornado Strikes Rock and Holt Counties

NEW INFORMATION OBTAINED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATES THE TORNADO ON JUNE 5TH INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN IN ROCK COUNTY ABOUT 3 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF ROSE AND CONTINUED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES BEFORE LIFTING 4 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF STUART. THE TORNADO WAS A MULTIPLE VORTEX TORNADO WHICH HAS SMALL CIRCULATIONS ORBITING AROUND A CENTRAL AXIS. ALONG THE PATH...THE MULTIPLE VORTEX TORNADO BROKE POWER POLES...MOVED A HOUSE OFF THE FOUNDATION...DESTROYED OUTBUILDINGS...OVERTURNED CENTER PIVOT IRRIGATION SYSTEMS...SNAPPED OFF NUMEROUS TREES...AND MOVED VEHICLES. A DAMAGE SURVEY CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DETERMINED THE STRONGEST WINDS WITH THE TORNADO WERE STILL BETWEEN 115 TO 125 MPH WHICH IS EQUIVALENT OF AN EF-2 TORNADO.
