Kenilworth Avenue Service Road Short Term Closure

The District Department of Transportation (IPMA) is continuing its work on the reconstruction of Kenilworth Avenue NE from Foote Street to Lane Place.

Work includes reconfiguration of the intersections at Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Kenilworth Terrace, Lane Place, 42nd Street, Jay Street and Hayes Street with the Collector-Distributor road of Southbound Kenilworth Avenue.

Beginning Wednesday, October 17 or Thursday, October 18 DDOT will begin work on the Southbound Kenilworth Avenue Service Road.

The work will take place through the end of November 2007, weather permitting.

This required work will entail the closure of the Service Road for the reconstruction of intersections at Lane Plane and 42nd Street, NE.  Local traffic will be detoured around the work site.

Traffic on southbound Kenilworth Ave (DC I-295) will not be affected and the ramp for Burroughs Avenue will remain open with a temporary exit until new permanent construction is completed.

Monitoring of this work will be done by DDOT to ensure that the project is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
