The Employment Relations Board is taking steps to protect confidential or sensitive information from accidental or intentional unauthorized access, modification, destruction, disclosure, or temporary or permanent loss. Sensitive information is any information which, if lost, misused, accessed, or modified without authorization, adversely affects the interest or the conduct of programs or the privacy to which individuals are entitled.
Paperwork filed with our office sometimes contains confidential or sensitive information. This information should be redacted prior to submission. This applies to all submissions, including information contained in exhibits presented at hearing.
The information to be redacted includes a person’s name in combination with any of the following:
- Social Security number;
- Driver’s license or state identification card number;
- Passport number or other United States issued identification number; or
- Financial account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to a consumer’s financial account.
The 2007 Legislature passed Senate Bill 583 to help prevent identity theft (ORS 646A.600 et seq.). The bill provides more details about protecting confidential or sensitive information and the consequences for businesses and other organizations if the information is released or its confidentiality is in any way compromised.
