September 19-20, 2006
University of Washington Botanic Gardens
Seattle, WA
The USDA Forest Service PNW Research Station and the University of Washington's
Center for Urban Horticulture are pleased to announce a 2-day conference
on invasive plants and their management, September 19-20, 2006, at the University
of Washington Botanic Gardens, 3501 NE 41st Street, Seattle, WA.
The mission
of the conference is to create strategies and partnerships to understand
and manage plant invasions in the Pacific Northwest. Featured speakers
include: Ann Bartuska (USDA Forest Service, Deputy Chief for Research),
John Randall (Director, Global Invasive Species Initiative, The Nature
Conservancy), Les Mehrhoff (University of Connecticut and Project Advisor to
the Invasive
Plant Atlas of New England), and Doug Johnson (Executive Director, California
Invasive Plant Council).
Those wishing to present a paper or poster on
research, technology transfer, or policy issues related to invasive plants
are invited to submit an abstract
and title by email to reichard@u.washington.edu by
July 1, 2006. Abstracts will be reviewed by the conference steering and science
advisory committee,
and authors will be notified if their presentation has been selected for
the conference. Because space is limited for oral presentations, authors may
be
asked to present a poster instead. For more information, please contact Tim
Harrington (360-753-7674 or tharrington@fs.fed.us)
