Factors affecting retirement income

Compared with their counterparts earlier in the century, today's Americans are working in different industries, retiring earlier, and living longer. Yet these changes are not always recognized in the design of retirement income benefits. This article explores several factors related to the U.S. retirement income system, including coverage, benefit amounts, job mobility, retirement ages, and personal savings.
