Segmental Concrete Bridge Team Member Profile

Benjamin Tang
Principal Bridge Engineer

Mr. Benjamin Tang is the Principal Bridge Engineer and Team Leader for the group on long span, major bridges and tunnels under the U.S. DOT, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Office of Bridge Technology, Washington, D.C.

He is a graduate of University of Maryland and holds a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering from University of Illinois. He is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland and serves on several technical committees on the Transportation Research Board, AASHTO and private industry (ACI, PCI, PTI).

Benjamin is the technical expert and review authority for all bridge and structural matters for the Federal-aid bridge program. He is responsible for drafting Federal polices and regulations. He is championing the use of innovative bridge technologies, such as segmental concrete and cable-stayed bridges, accelerated bridge construction techniques, high performance materials and load resistance factor design.
