  • In 2005, adults (persons 18 years of age and over) accounted for 84.7 percent of all persons arrested.
  • Adults accounted for 84.2 percent of persons arrested for violent crime.
  • Persons under 25 years of age comprised 44.3 percent of all those arrested. (Based on Table 38.)
  • Adults were arrested most often for drug abuse violations than for any other offense, and juveniles (persons under 18 years of age) were arrested most often for larceny-theft offenses.
  • Historically, juveniles have had a high involvement in arson offenses. In 2005, 48.6 percent of persons arrested for arson were juveniles, and of those juveniles, 59.4 percent were under the age of 15. (Based on Table 38.)
