Dr Michael Strong Receives Life Member Award

Dr. Astrid Lobo Gajiwala, President, Asia Pacific Association of Surgical Tissue Banks (APASTB) presents Dr. Michael Strong with a medal and the APASTB Honorary Life Member Award for service to the Asia Pacific tissue banking effort. This award was given to Dr Strong and Dr. Rudiger von Versen from Germany. Dr. Strong has conducted training programs in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia over the years and has also hosted several trainees in Seattle at the Puget Sound Blood Center - Northwest Tissue Center from these countries, including Singapore. There have been students in these various venues from over 20 countries in this region. Dr. von Versen has also contributed a lot to these efforts and these gentlemen are the third and fourth recipients of this prestigious award. We proudly send our congratulations to Mike and Rudi!  The awards were given in early June during the 5th World Congress on Tissue Banking held in conjunction with the 12th International Conference of the Asia Pacific Association of Surgical Tissue Banks, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2003, Dr Strong received the AATB’s George Hyatt Memorial Award. Recipients of all AATB awards can now be viewed on the AATB website under the “About Us” link at “AATB Awards.”
